Surrey Wedding Photography at Holy Trinity Church Guildford
There’s something very elegant about keeping the wedding day nice and simple. That was certainly the case for Anish and Sophie’s wedding at Holy Trinity Church Guildford last summer. Both Sophie and Anish were getting ready on adjacent streets in Woking; we’d later on be returning to the family home where Sophie was getting ready, for the reception. Getting ready so close meant that I was able to capture a flavour of both the bride and groom’s story, a story with two parallel narratives, if you will, that come together when Sophie walked down the isle and into the ceremony at Holy Trinity Church. Holy Trinity is a church I must have walked past a hundred times, usually on my way to the post office to send a couple their wedding pictures. Holy Trinity is the only large Georgian church in Surrey, sporting detailed frescos as well as one of the largest unsupported ceilings in southern England. What was a so amazing though was the number of passersby who, by the time Anish and Sophie exited the church, had virtually brought the high street to a standstill, eager to see the newlyweds get showered in confetti and drive off together in the red Jaguar E-type now waiting for them outside the church.
After a brief stroll through the castle grounds in Guildford for their portrait shoot it was back home where the reception was brilliantly catered by Tristan and the team at Caper & Berry and a string quartet played outside a tastefully decorated marquee in the back garden. As day turned to evening, it was time for the couple’s first dance, a well rehearsed routine that had everyone transfixed. Sophie and Anish you were brilliant, thank you so much for choosing me as your photographer.
