Social media platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest have in recent years made planning your wedding a far more visual experience and they’ve encouraged couples to break with the norm. I hope that this page is a great way to discover some of the outdoor Surrey wedding venues that you may not even have realised could host your big day.
1 . Ridge Farm, Dorking
Ridge Farm is without doubt one of the most unique Surrey wedding venues you could wish for. There’s a very special vibe there, not to mention the really practical aspects of the venue that help make this one of my favourite wedding venues to shoot at. The sixteenth century farm house was converted to became one of the first residential recording studios in the UK, hosting such amazing artists as Roxy Music, Queen and Ozzy Osbourne.
Whether you choose to get ready at the venue, hold an outdoor ceremony in the orchard, or the incredible woodland amphitheatre and even camp in the fields overnight, you’ll feel like rockstars for the day, and create some very special memories at this one of a kind Surrey wedding venue.
2 . RHS Wisley Garden, Guildford
Perhaps one of the most surprising Surrey wedding venues, you may not have even realised that RHS Wisley near Guildford hosts a small number of weddings each year. Where better for lovers of colourful and exotic plants and flowers! There are any number of locations around the gardens where you can hold your ceremony before moving to the incredible glass house for your reception.
In the evening, the venue becomes all yours, and the amazing glass house at Wisley will take your breath away, and that of your guests. Wisley Garden is one of the most amazing and less well known outdoor Surrey wedding venues and would suit any couple wanting to hold a humanist ceremony and party into the night in a truly amazing wedding venue.
3 . Gate Street Barn, Bramley
Still one of my very favourite Surrey wedding venues, the delightful Gate Street Barn is a quant, slightly Boho venue that oozes charm. As Surrey wedding venues go, Gate Street Barn is right up there, and recent renovations to the barn have made big improvements to the natural light and usability of the space no matter what time of year you’re getting married.
The most recent addition at Gate Street is an outdoor clearing for woodland weddings (somewhere I’m looking forward to visiting very soon.) It’s a perfect venue for a medium size wedding with family and friends at the centre of everything, and with beautiful countryside surrounding the barn, and evening walk and portrait shoot will yield a beautiful and romantic set of portraits for you to treasure forever.
4 . Pembroke Lodge, Richmond Upon Thames
Pembroke Lodge in the heart of Richmond park is a stunning venue that continues to innovate and offers plenty of options for it’s couples to create the wedding of their dreams. Both the Belvedere room on the ground floor, and now the smaller Russel Suite offer their own outdoor spaces for either your drinks reception or an outdoor ceremony.
Being on the boarder of Surrey and London, Pembroke Lodge is blessed with some incredible panoramic views of London but remains an oasis within easy reach of central London and other transport links. The staff at Pembroke Lodge go out of their way to make the day run smoothly, adding to the overall sense of calm that this very special venue has.
5 . Northbrook Park, Farnham
One of Surrey’s most established wedding venues, Northbrook Park is in many ways a blank canvas, ready for you to style in whatever way you like and put your own personal touches on your day. With resident peacocks roaming the grounds and two light-filled spaces that are amazing ceremony spaces in their own right and a perfect backup wet weather option if the worst should happen to your plans for an outdoor wedding.
I’ve seen ceremonies of all kinds and all cultures use Northbrook Park in their own unique way, and it’s even an option to use the beautiful walled garden for an outdoor ceremony, or simply for garden games such as croquet and jenga during your drinks reception. Situated just outside the market town of Farnham, Northbrook Park is a venue where you can get ready in the morning and party until late!
6 . Froyle Park, Alton
Over the Surrey boarder and into Hampshire, Froyle Park is a stunning venue with manicured gardens and a beautiful outdoor Dome in a tranquil part of the garden and ample seating area for up to 240 guests. You’ll be able to enjoy panoramic views of the Hampshire countryside while reading your vows to one another and exchanging rings.
What’s more Froyle Park has a number of indoor spaces in case the weather doesn’t get the memo, and there’s ever a church right next door. Froyle Park also has onsite accommodation which is perfect if you wanted to consider having a legal ceremony on the morning of your wedding day, and a larger humanist outdoor ceremony, which at the time of writing is still not legally binding in the UK.
