Kiri & Ejiro at Northbrook Park

Kiri & Ejiro had one of those weddings that, from the first meeting and throughout the months leading up to the big day, seems to lodge itself in the brain as one to really look forward to. We met for coffee at the Harbour Hotel in Guildford, part of the same group as their wedding venue Northbrook Park. It was obvious from the outset how excited they both were, and how much thought had already gone into planning a day that would both pay respect to tradition, and also fell right for them. Equally as special was the engagement shoot we did around the streets of London. On the most perfect Spring evening imaginable, we met up by The Old Vic theatre (the couple, Kiri in particular, are huge theatre buffs) and walked along the river to St Dustan’s. It was a great opportunity to catch up on wedding plans and create a professional set of portraits ahead of their winter wedding, when the time and light available for these kind of shots can be limited.

Kiri & Ejiro’s Winter Wedding at Northbrook Park

Fast forward to the wedding day itself, and thanks to a very mild winter there was still plenty of late Autumn colour on the trees at Northbrook Park, which made for some lovely colour in the portraits. what was also clear from my conversations with the couple was just what a big part the music was going to play in the day, and so it was lovely to bump into the gospel choir Get Gospel as soon as I arrived at the venue. Kiri and Ejiro had in fact hired three different music acts and the very entertaining master of ceremonies Charles Emeka to keep things on track and fun! It’s an African tradition for family to dance their way into the wedding reception and the Brass Junkies did a great job of leading the way on this, before DJ MRI took over for the evening. A special shout out has to go to Carol and her team at Lily & Lavender Events for their organisation of the whole day. It was great working with you on such a special day!

“We love our photos, they tell a story and there are lots of quirky little details that you notice when you look again and again.”
