Wedding Photography at Micklefield Hall
I’ve been really looking forward to blogging this one! Today I’m delighted to share Nick and Clare’s wedding photography at Micklefield Hall, Hertfordshire. They were such a great couple to work with and the style of the whole day was so wonderful. The late autumn colours, on what turned out to be one of those perfect, crisp, sunny autumn days, was enhanced with beautiful bouquets and floral touches in Clare’s hair by Rebel Rebel and the always amazing culinary talents of Kalm Kitchen did a fab job of the catering. I was also really excited that Nick and Clare agreed that as part of their wedding photography at Micklefield Hall we would shoot some of their portraits on film. We were so luck to catch some of the last rays of sunshine during their portraits session, which made for some truly spectacular images. Shooting on large format film is something that I’m hoping to do more of in 2017. It takes a lot of patience, but to my knowledge, I’m the only wedding photographer using this type of camera in the UK. As the evening progressed, we were treated to some very touching speeches and slideshows, and when it came time to party, the band Wildcard did an amazing job, keeping everyone on the dance floor and belted out so many tunes that in the end it was hard to leave. It was also great to work with Josh from Next Door Films and a special thanks also to Moritz Schmittat for second shooting for me on the day.
Wedding Photography at Micklefield Hall
Micklefield Hall was built in 1740 and the central part of the house was re-designed by Sir John Soane in the late 18th Century. Micklefield Hall stands in a fine parkland setting and yet is less than 25 miles from central London. With historical records going back to 1260 when the land was obtained for the Abbey of St. Albans, the majestic oak in the parkland (officially dated by the Woodland Trust at 650 years old) and the stunning 16th century Tithe Barn, which has now been completely restored, Micklefield Hall provides a rich setting for any occasion. The house is set in 350 acres of rolling Hertfordshire countryside. Managed and run by Jamie & Anna Rankin who live in the house, together with their four children, ensures that this elegant Georgian country house has a wonderful family feel. Micklefield is able to conjure up a mix of total privacy, exclusivity and efficiency which, when combined with the truly magical setting, makes it a perfect venue.
