Beautiful Candid Lux Wedding Photography
Yay! Another buzz word/phrase to describe a style of wedding photography that’s very much on trend right now. But what is it, and how have I incorporated the candid lux wedding photography style into my own work? My feeling is that this phrase “candid lux” has come about since the pandemic, when weddings that were allowed to go ahead, were inevitably smaller, and couples and photographers alike thought about the photographic coverage and vibe as a photo/fashion shoot, rather than tradition wedding photography, and everything that that entails. There was an informality to micro weddings that took place during the pandemic, but couples still wanted a set of pictures that were fun and energetic.
As photographers we also had a lot more time on our hands to up our presence on social media, and we began to see more and more cool couples celebrating together in a very fashion conscious way online, and the candid lux wedding photography began to emerge. For me, and my style of wedding photojournalism, I’ve made a concerted effort to evolve, and introduce more movement into my portrait sessions and shoot more key moment in the vertical orientation, that look great on Instagram, and have elevated my wedding albums to a new level.
