Charterhouse School Wedding Photography
Quite apart from Charterhouse being one of the most well established public schools in England, having been founded in London in 1611 (then moving to it’s current location in Godalming, Surrey in 1872) it also makes for an unbelievably stunning and unusual wedding venue! Having grown up in the area myself, my earliest memory of Charterhouse is competing against them on the football pitch, with the imposing Philip Charles Hardwick designed buildings and statue of the school’s founder Thomas Sutton as a backdrop. Little did I know then, that I’d be returning on such a beautiful day, almost 30 years later, to capture the Charterhouse school wedding photography of Emma and Lawrence, in the South African Cloisters of the school chapel! Chosen for it’s grandeur, but also because the couple wanted to create a really personal ceremony, the South African Cloisters of the school are a beautiful space, flooded by diffused light, warmed by the stone walls of the cloisters that creates a beautiful natural glow that is both flattering, and great to photograph in!
Charterhouse School Wedding Photography
After a beautiful ceremony, with plenty of laughter and two beautiful readings, my Charterhouse School wedding photography continued during a lovely drinks reception on the Charterhouse lawn outside the South African cloisters, and a few portraits before the couple sped off in a friend’s MG sports car! With a little coordination I was also able to capture their arrival at the reception, whereupon they were greeted by what can only be described as a wall of confetti from their friends and family, before more drinks and canapés and garden games. In a break from the normal wedding marquee, Emma and Lawrence opted for a tipi style tent for their reception, with food being freshly prepared in the house and on the barbecue outside in the garden. Their tipi wedding reception in Surrey was a perfect way to celebrate with those nearest and dearest to them, and just when we thought things couldn’t get any better (I had been warned) we were all ushered outside of the tipi for an incredible firework display that lit up the night sky. The perfect end to a perfect day! Thank you so much for inviting me along to capture every moment!
“Thank you so much for doing such a wonderful job at our wedding – we are genuinely delighted with the photos.”
