Ridge Farm Wedding Photography
Ridge Farm Studios is a charming 16th century farm house near Dorking in Surrey. Previously used as a recording studio for the likes of Roxy Music and Sade, Ridge Farm still retains much of it’s creative and bohemian feel. Couples choosing to hold their wedding at the farm are able to hire the house and all the grounds for the entire weekend, which is exactly what Libby and Andrew did back in July. After an intimate ceremony at Leatherhead Registry Office, with just close family, the couple returned to Ridge Farm to begin getting ready for their outdoor ceremony in front of all their friends and family. The build up to the ceremony was quite unusual in that Libby and Andrew had already legally married, and everyone was getting ready at the farm house. It was really exciting to photograph though, and great to be able to see and record this stage in the day from both the bride and groom’s side. There’s so much going on, like the flowers arriving and rehearsals taking place, that as a reportage photographer I’m really kept on my toes. There was even time for me to join Andrew and friends at the very quaint little pub not far from the farm house.
The highlight of Libby and Andrew’s Ridge Farm wedding photography though was without doubt their outdoor ceremony in the farm’s beautiful orchard. There were two lovely readings and at the end of the ceremony it was a really nice touch to see all their guests writing messages of good luck to the couple. The ceremony was expertly conducted by Zena Birch who is a humanist celebrant that I been lucky enough to work with a number of times. What’s so great about the ceremonies that Zena conducts is that she takes the time to get to know her couples and works with them to create a ceremony that is personal and unique to them.
