Russets Country House Wedding Photography

Russets Country House Wedding Photography Surrey: Today’s blog comes from Lorna and Barry’s beautiful wedding at Russets Country House in Chiddingfold. Given that Lorna works in hospitality at one of my other favourite wedding venues in Surrey, it was a little surprising perhaps that the couple chose to get married elsewhere. Although, visiting Russets for the first time, as I did a few weeks before their big day, it’s easy to see why. Russets is a stunning country house with a contemporary twist. All the rooms are filled with soft natural light and the indoor and outdoor spaces are so versatile. Tim and Kate, and all the staff at Russets, have done an amazing job of presenting the house so perfectly. They were also on hand throughout the day to make sure everything ran like clockwork, thanks guys!

Given the rather rainy start to the summer we’ve been having, Lorna and Barry were so blessed to have such perfect weather all day long. As their wedding guests began to congregate outside, the anticipation grew and grew. One of the beauties of a bride getting ready at the venue is that I’m able to cover both angles and dart between the bride and her guests. One of my favourite shots from the day is of Lorna and her bridesmaids spying on their wedding guests from the bathroom window. It was also around this time that I got my first introduction to Louise (loo-e) surely the youngest best man I will ever have the pleasure of photographing!

It’s the way that couples involve their friends and family in the day, and the little details, that can say so much about their personalities. Barry is a keen photographer himself, and it was lovely to see some of his pictures from around the world being used on the table plan and in the centrepieces on each table. Their tiered wedding cake of suitcases with camera on top was also a witty indication of their shared interest in travel and photography. When I met with Lorna and Barry to plan the wedding, one of the things they were most excited about was their plan to have one of their guests from each table deliver the main course from the kitchen and carve the roast lamb at the table. This worked so well on the day and created a great atmosphere. Each of them were given their own apron, much to the amusement of the other unsuspecting guests!

One of the best things about Russets Country House is the way that it transitions so seamlessly into evening mode. The open plan layout means that guests can still enjoy the outdoor patio area while the indoor space is so versatile and has a real night club atmosphere after dark. This is one venue that I hope to return to time and time again in the future!
