8 Reasons To Get Married At Farnham Castle

Scroll down below, and read my top reasons that I’ve picked for choosing Farnham Castle as your wedding venue. Having photographed there a number of times, I’ve seen this amazing venue in different seasons and the rooms used in all sorts of creative ways. You’ll fall in love with this glorious wedding venue the moment you arrive!

1 . A Perfect Wedding Venue For The Whole Day

At Farnham Castle you’ll feel as though it’s yours for the day. Because as a couple you’re able both get ready in different parts of the castle, you’ll be able to spend the whole of your wedding day at the castle and relax that you don’t have to rush around from home, to church, and then to a reception venue. Check out one of my favourite weddings HERE

As a Wedding Photographer Farnham Castle I can capture all those little in-between moments, and create a really beautiful story-telling set of pictures. Typically, the bridal party will get ready in the Gatehouse, with the groom getting ready in the Honeymoon suite, and when it comes to the ceremony you have a choice of the Norman Chapel or the light and airy Lantern Hall.

2 . So Much Space! And Wonderful Views of Farnham

Both inside and outside, Farnham Castle is blessed with ample space for you and your guests to enjoy. On a summers day your drinks reception will feel like a garden party (on many occasions I’ve seen kids, and even the bride running around on the lawn!) There is also ample space in the appropriately named Great Hall for a spectacular wedding breakfast and party.

Even during the winter months, or if the weather takes a turn for the worst, the interior spaces of the castle, and it’s historic interest, will mean that your wedding day will run smoothly whatever the English weather has up its sleeve. I’ve photographed children’s entertainers put on a performance in the Lantern Hall, and for the grown ups, the bar area is the perfect little oasis to relax in comfort.

3 . Great Portrait Locations Around The Castle

At some point in the day, you’ll no doubt want to escape and have a little quality time together in order to create some portraits of just the two of you. At Farnham Castle there’s a great opportunity to take a walk that circles the castle, stopping off at various spots along the way. For the more ambitious couples why not climb the Norman Keep for some truly spectacular views over Farnham.

If you’re planning a winter wedding, there are even options inside the castle or under the covered entrance steps for some special portraits of you both as a married couple. Experience has taught me that with even just a little natural light peaking through a window, we can create some stunning portraits for you to enjoy. It’s why I love being a Farnham Castle Wedding Photographer.

4 . Why Wedding Photographers Love Farnham Castle

Along with the majority of wedding photographers, I really enjoy the variety of photographing at many different types of wedding venues, however, Farnham Castle wedding photography is one of my favourites, a venue in the beautiful market town of Farnham which is around 36 miles southwest of London.

Photographing wedding ceremonies at Farnham Castle are so enjoyable because of the portrait options around the wonderful landscape gardens that overlook Farnham town centre. Photography at this epic wedding venue is also so high on my list because of the grand spaces of the castle’s interior, and because the couple are both able to get ready onsite, which makes capturing more of the wedding day story possible.

5 . Fantastic Food to Celebrate your Wedding

Without a shadow of doubt, I can say that the food that comes out of the kitchen at Farnham Castle is some of the best that I’ve seen (and tasted) of any wedding venue I’ve worked at. The team at Farnham Castle will listen and will even adapt dishes  to put a personal twist on a classic dish.

Check out their website HERE and take a look at some of their sample menus. Just make sure you have something in the oven, or a takeaway menu close at hand, because you’ll be feeling very hungry after seeing what these expert chefs can rustle up!

6 . A Romantic Castle Venue For All Seasons

Some of my favourite weddings I’ve ever shot have been winter weddings, and Farnham Castle around Christmas time is a truly special place. They have room for a seriously big Christmas tree and beautiful exterior lighting to greet your evening guess as they ascend the stairs into the warmth of the castle.

Inside, you have the choice of holding your ceremony in one of two spaces, either the Lantern Hall or the small Norman Chapel. The Great Hall, when it’s revealed to your guests before the wedding breakfast, always gets a great reaction. The high ceilings and large windows, allow light to flood in, while also staying cool in summer. If you get the chance, take a walk up to the balcony and take a moment to enjoy the view.

7 . Enjoy Historic Farnham

Farnham is a market town in Surrey, England, within the Borough of Waverley. The town is 36 miles south-west of London in the extreme west of Surrey, adjacent to the border with Hampshire. By road, Guildford is 11 miles to the east and Winchester a further 28 miles along the same axis as London. Farnham is the largest town in Waverley, and one of the five largest conurbations in Surrey. It is of historic interest, with many old buildings, including a number of Georgian houses. Farnham Castle overlooks the town.

Farnham is the western starting point of the North Downs Way National Trail, which is predominantly footpath. The Pilgrims Way which follows long sections of the North Downs Way traditionally runs from Winchester to Canterbury. The footpath known as St. Swithun’s Way has created a more pleasant route to Winchester than the modern road network which constitutes a lot of the Pilgrims Way.

8 . A Great Party Venue!

Weddings are a celebration, and the ceremony and traditional elements of the day, around two people coming together and declaring their marriage in front of invited guests, are all important, but part of that celebration is also about having a great party, where everyone young and old can let their hair down and create great memories.

As a party venue Farnham Castle is amazing, there’s ample space for a band, even with a small stage, to set up and get the party started. There’s even sufficient space for a few tables around the periphery of the room for drinks, and for guests to continue to chat. The bar area is even situated in such a way that overlooks the dance floor area and is the perfect spot for some guests to relax in more comfortable furnishings.
