St Martha’s Church Wedding Photography Guildford

For any keen walkers in and around the Guildford area, St Martha’s Church is a well known beauty spot. Perched high on a hill overlooking Chilworth, and with views for miles around in every direction, it really will take your breath away. Not least of all because the steep sandy tracks leading up to the church are a real workout! It’s somewhere that I’ve wanted to photograph for a long time, and I finally got the opportunity last summer. St Martha’s Church Wedding Photography Guildford

For me the day began with Jane, her maid of honour and girls, getting ready at home. From where it was only a short walk to the Harbour Hotel in Guildford where Will was meeting guests, and where buses had been laid on to take us to St Martha’s Church. Sadly the tracks leading up to the church aren’t designed for heavy vehicles, but the walk up to the church (guests had been advised to bring extra footwear) was one of the highlights of the day. I love travelling with either the guests or the couple between venues, when ever I can, as there are so many small photo opportunities in between the traditional moments of the day.

Following a beautiful ceremony, and a brief portrait session, it was all back on the bus for the short trip to the reception at Clock Barn Hall in Godalming. The Clock Barn is a lovely secluded and relaxed venue, but what most of us were looking forward to seeing was the much anticipated cake by Choccy Woccy Doo Dah, and the horses in the stables next door. What the kids didn’t realise was that they would later be able to ride on the horses, which was a really nice treat, on what turned out to be a lovely summer evening.
