winter wedding at cain manor hampshire

Johanna & Sam at Cain Manor

Cain Manor is fast becoming one of my favourite winter wedding venues to photograph at. It’s coziness, warmth (both literally and metaphorically speaking) the great hospitality provided by the Bijou staff, and the convenience of having everything onsite, make it such a joy to photograph even on the dreariest November day! Add to that the England rugby team had just lost in the final of the world cup that morning, and you could be forgiven for thinking that everyone would be on a bit of a downer, but not a bit of it! From the moment Johanna and her bridesmaids arrived the excitement began to build, and their positivity and love for one another was infectious. The bridal suite at Cain Manor was a hive of activity all morning, with the brilliant team of hair and makeup artists and florists that Johanna had chosen, and Johanna’s dress from Golden Sash Bridal hanging up ready to be slipped into at the last minute. (Links to all the fab suppliers involved in the day at the end of this post)

From the ceremony onwards, the excitement continued to build throughout the day, with so much laughter, the occasional cheeky look to one another during their vows, and a final wave to the webcam in the corner of the ceremony providing a live stream to family and friends unable to attend the wedding. Johanna hails all the way from Venezuela, which she promised me (in the conversations we had leading up the the wedding) meant that there would be a very colourful and lively party! On further investigation I understood that what was being referred to was the ‘la hora loca’, or ‘the crazy hour’, a Venezuelan wedding tradition in which everyone is expected to be on the dance floor and dress up in the masks and hats that get passed around. Add to that, confetti canons and glow sticks and you have one hell of a party! To be honest the whole of this blog post could be just the party, but I hope you enjoy just a few of my favourites that I’ve chosen to end on.

“We love them!!! Thank you very much for being part of our day.”
