Helping Photographers Find Their Feet
g
I’ve devised a mentoring program to support and help wedding photographers navigate those exciting early stages of their journey when choices over equipment, style and the direction you want to take your business can all seem a bit overwhelming. Starting your business off on the right path, from the beginning, can give you clarity and ultimately lead to a more enjoyable and profitable future.
And for those of you out there looking to focus on more specific areas of your business, I offer website critiques and flash workshops, designed to reinvigorate and up-skill you as a photographer. Coffee included!

1-to-1 Mentoring
If you’re just starting out in wedding photography and you’re serious about growing your business, then I’d love to help. With over ten years of teaching experience under my belt, a 1st class honours degree in photography (not to mention running my own business) I’ve learnt that finding your own photographic style and brand takes time, be it the marketing of your business, web design, pricing or the art of taking pictures.
Depending on your skill level, I’ll devise a unique mentoring scheme (typically around 6 sessions) to support you and help develop your business through those tricky early stages.
I’ll tailor a series of monthly or bimonthly tutorials, critiques and practical sessions designed around you. My mentoring scheme is designed to both educate and challenge, and you’ll also have the opportunity to second shoot with me at a real wedding.
Website Critique
There comes a time for all of us, when a fresh pair of eyes is needed on our websites. When you get the feeling that friends and family are being too kind, and when you yourself can’t see the wood for the trees, it may be time for a bit of tough love!
Whether you’ve got a couple of years under your belt, and are just starting to find your voice as a photographer, or you’ve been shooting for decades and your website has begun to look and feel a little bloated or generic (sound familiar!) then this could be just the boost you need.
I’ll take the time to explore every corner of your website, and then online or over coffee, we’ll spend a couple of hours looking at each aspect of the user experience of your website, from the copy, image selection, fonts, calls to action, SEO and colour palette. My constructive (and I hope, friendly) advice will give you the actionable tips to establish, or perhaps rediscovered, the core principals of your business, and how those are conveyed though your website.
Flash Workshop
The effective use of flash is one of the great mysteries of photography. This half day workshop in Guildford is ideally suited to small groups, or as a 1-to-1 session.
With easy access to a large indoor space and beautiful outdoor locations, the aim of this workshop is to give you real “hands on” experience in a relaxed environment, so that you not only learn the basic principals of flash, but gain the understanding and confidence to adapt your setup and camera setting to cope with any situation, and most importantly of all, discover the kind of flash setup that suits your photography.
Topics include: Off-camera vs on-camera flash, using modifiers, balancing flash and ambient light, and special effects.
