I guess we all want to be appreciated for the work we do and get that warm feeling that comes from knowing that we’ve done a good job. So you can imagine my delight at receiving such glowing feedback from the couple, on delivering Alex and Rachel’s pictures to them after their wedding. It was particularly pleasing because as guests at a wedding I’d photographed some two years earlier, I think the pair already had a really good understanding of my approach to photography. In our initial meeting, Rachel spoke about how they had been friends for a long time, and how they wanted that to come across in their pictures. I think it was my interest in capturing those momentary glances and smiles, that take place between a couple on their wedding day, that had drawn Alex and Rachel to my photography initially, but we also talked at length about how their portraits should convey a similar sense of joy. Pinterest is a fantastic resource when planning all aspects of your wedding, and creating a mood board, like Rachel did, is a great way to define the kind of photography you’re after, and help in choosing the right photographer for you. Just be aware that many of the pictures on Pinterest are heavily choreographed, and shot in some very exotic locations.
