A Rainy Day At Larmer Tree Gardens
Couples will often ask me in our planning meetings, what will happen if it rains on our wedding day? I sometimes joke by saying that we’ll call off the wedding and all go home! I also wonder if I should point out all the other things that might not quite go according to plan on their big day! In the grand scheme of things though, a bit of rain on your wedding day, timing going a little awry, or even a few guests having to drop out, won’t ruin your enjoyment and memories of the day. Never was this better illustrated than Amina and Leon’s wedding at Larmer Tree Gardens which I was lucky enough to photograph back in August.
Larmer Tree Gardens is a unique wedding venue that couples choose primarily for its beautiful outdoor ceremony space and gardens. From the moment I arrived to photograph both the bride and groom getting ready at a local hotel, the rain was coming down steadily. We were incredibly luck that there was a break in the weather during the ceremony and portraits, and my documentary approach to wedding photography, aided by some great music, and everyone having a thoroughly good time meant that I was able to capture some very special moments though out the day, including a very romantic first dance.
