Bridesmaids & Flower Girl

Favourite Frames – Bridesmaids & Flower Girl

One of the things I love doing in my photography is to look for quirky juxtapositions within my images, and search out the less obvious, unconventional moments during the wedding day. It’s moments like this one that keep me on my toes, and help make each wedding unique. I think the film “Bridesmaids”, is compulsory viewing for anyone planning their wedding, but it wasn’t until the morning of Lucy’s wedding that I’d seen the film playing as the bridal party got ready! A bold choice, given the emotional rollercoaster of the film, and some of the colourful language! We put the TV on mute for much of the time, but what makes the image above one of my favourite frames, is the juxtaposition of the awkward scene being played out in the background, between two of the main characters, with the young flower girl in the foreground, transfixed and inspired by an altogether more joyful scene being played out in front of her, as Lucy and her bridesmaids have their hair and makeup done ahead of the big day.
