Humanist Wedding Ceremony in Surrey
Even though I’ve shot well over 100 weddings as a professional photographer, I still find each and every ceremony such a special moment in time. Something I guess to do with two people standing together and choosing to take such a big leap into the future, whilst surrounded by all their friends and family. I find something unique about every ceremony, but never more so than when it’s a humanist wedding ceremony. The popularity of the non religious wedding ceremony has grown massively in recent years as couples look to put their own stamp on their wedding and look for ever more imaginative and personal places to tie the knot. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing ceremonies in the university dining room where the couple met for the very first time, in the centre of Leadenhall Market and a humanist wedding ceremony in Surrey at Ridge Farm Studios (above). Libby and Andrew said “I do” earlier this year, in a beautiful open air ceremony, by the utterly brilliant humanist celebrant Zena Birch. To see more pictures from Libby and Andrew’s day at the very quirky Ridge Farm venue in Surrey go to their full blog post here.
Sadly though, humanist wedding ceremonies don’t currently enjoy the same status, in the eyes of the law, as other ceremonies. If you believe this should change then why not do as I did and write to your local PM? The British Humanist Association, who’ve been really active in their campaign, have made it super easy for you to join over 2000 people in pushing for change.
If you believe that humanist wedding ceremonies deserve to be recognised in law then please take a minute to e-mail your MP. Show your support by sharing this page with your friends by using the social media buttons below. Please read your e-mail before sending to your member of parliament.
